15-7PH is a precipitation hardening stainless steel designed to offer superior strength and moderate corrosion resistance. This semi-austenitic steel contains chromium-nickel-molybdenum-aluminium, making it the perfect solution for applications requiring these properties.
With a high strength and hardness rate and good corrosion resistance, it's a reliable and cost-effective solution for a variety of applications. In conditions TH 1050 and RH 950, it offers greater corrosion resistance than standard hardenable chromium types 400 series stainless steels.
It is composed of (in weight percentage) 0.09% Carbon (C), 1.00% Manganese (Mn), 1.00% Silicon (Si), 14.0-16.0% Chromium (Cr), 6.5-7.75% Nickel (Ni), 0.04% Phosphorus (P), 0.03% Sulfur (S), 2.0-3.0% Molybdenum (Mo), 0.75-1.5% Aluminum (Al), and the base metal Iron (Fe). Other designations of AISI Type 632 stainless steel include UNS S15700, AISI 632, and PH 15-7Mo.
The solution heat-treated state (austenite phase) of sUS631 is soft and can be processed in various ways, butreguires two or more heat treatments of martensitization and precipitation hardening to increase its strengthSince SUS632J1 is alwavs in martensitic phase with or without solution treatment, it can be strengthened with onlyone precipitation hardening heat treatment. Solution heat-treated SUs632J1, although a martensitic phase, can belightly machined due to its low carbon content and toughness. There are two types of finishes: solution heat-treatment finish and rolled finish. The rolled finish has higher strength, but it is not as strong as SUs631. This steelgrade exhibits strong magnetism in all states.
