Product Description

The New Titanium Grade 1 Alloy Rod for Medical Implant MaterialsThe New Titanium Grade 1 Alloy Rod for Medical Implant Materials

Introduction

Commercially Pure Titanium Grade 1 is one of the softest and most ductile grades exhibiting the greatest formability. This unalloyed titanium has excellent corrosion resistance property, excellent weldability and is used in a wide variety of applications. This grade material is mainly used in marine and chemical industries where the parts are subjected to very harsh environments. This material is also used for fabricating anodes for cathodic protection applications.

  • Melting Point: 1670°C (3040°F)

Key features:

  • Strength: The strength of titanium is said to be twice as much as carbon, and it is equal to three times the strength of aluminum.
  • Lightweight: Titanium is 40% lighter than stainless steam or low carbon steel, but still, it is much stronger than them.
  • Corrosion resistance: Titanium is one of the best metals to use in saltwater or seawater. As it is best suited for such conditions and experiences close to no corrosion.
  • No oxidization: As it does not get eroded so easily, the outer layer stays in pristine condition all the time. Hence, it eliminates the hassle of its maintenance.

Possible alternative grades:

  • Titanium alloy Grade 2: This is a slightly upgraded version of the grade 1 titanium. It has all the properties of grade 1 with improvements in its toughness.
  • Titanium alloy Grade 3: This grade is tougher than its previous grades. It is the least used of the four pure titanium metal. It is due to its less formable nature.
  • Titanium alloy Grade 4: This finds its use in the medical field in recent times. As it is one the strongest of the pure form of titanium and experiences no corrosion, it fits perfectly for that use.

Fabrication

  • Weldability - Fair
  • Forging - Rough 982°C (1800°F), finish 968°C (1775°F)
  • Annealing - 732°C (1350°F), 4hr, FC to 566°C (1050°F), A.C. F.C. not necessary for bars
  • Solution Heat Treating - Forgings
  • Aging - 904-954°C (1660-1750°F), 5 min-2hrs, W.Q. 538°C (1000°F), 4hr, A.C.

Applications

Titanium Grade 1 has a wide range of applications in the medical field, mainly used to make medical devices and implant materials.

Titanium Grade 1, also known as titanium grade 1 or commercially pure titanium, is the first commercial grade titanium with excellent forming properties, corrosion resistance and high impact toughness. 1 These characteristics make it an ideal material in the medical field. Specifically, the medical applications of Titanium Grade 1 include but are not limited to dental implants, artificial joints and other medical devices and implants. Due to its excellent biocompatibility, Titanium Grade 1 can be closely integrated with human tissues without producing rejection reactions, thereby improving the reliability and safety of medical devices.

In addition, Titanium Grade 1 also has its low density characteristics, while achieving lightweight medical devices, it maintains high strength, making surgical instruments lighter and more flexible, and reducing the burden on doctors to operate. These advantages make Titanium Grade 1 irreplaceable in the medical field.
