LORK is a special stainless steel manufacturer with 20 years of manufacturing experience.
347 (S34700) is a stabilized, austenitic, chromium steel containing columbium which allows for the elimination of carbide precipitation, and, consequently, intergranualr corrosion. Alloy 347 is stabilized by the additions of chromium and tantalum and offers higher creep and stress rupture properties than alloy 304 and 304L which may also be used for exposures where sensitization and intergranualr corrosion are of concern. The addition of columbium also allows 347 to have excellent corrosion resistance, even superior to that of alloy 321. 347H is the higher carbon composition form of 347 and demonstrates improved high temperature and creep properties.
347 stainless steel plate is also advantageous for high temperature service because of its good mechanical properties. 347 stainless steel plate offers higher creep and stress rupture properties than 304 and, particularly, 304L, which might also be considered for exposures where sensitization and intergranular corrosion are concerns.
Stainless Steel 347 Applications
347 is frequently used for the fabrication of equipment, which must be placed in service under severe corrosive conditions, and is also common to the petroleum refining industries. that consistently used 347 include:
▪ High temperature chemical processes
▪ Heat exchanger tubes
▪ High temperature steam service
▪ High pressure steam pipes
▪ Radiant superheaters
▪ Boiler tubes
▪ Heavy duty exhaust systems
▪ General refinery piping

Alloy 347 stainless steel plate can be easily welded and processed by standard shop fabrication practices.
The alloy is quite ductile and forms easily.
The high sulfur content of Alloy 303 also has a detrimental impact on hot workability. If hot forming is required, once again, 304 should be considered as an alternate selection.
The cold work hardening rate of 347 stainless steel plate makes it less machinable than 410 stainless steel, but similar to 304.
