Introduction

Hastelloy C/UNS N10002 Hastelloy alloy is a nickel-based alloy with remarkable high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. It plays an indispensable role in many industrial fields. Its excellent corrosion resistance, single-phase austenite structure and rich content of Cr, Mo and other elements give it the ability to maintain stable performance in various extreme environments.

This alloy is mainly composed of elements such as nickel, chromium and molybdenum. The synergistic effect of these elements makes the alloy have excellent corrosion resistance. At the same time, its single-phase austenite structure enables the alloy to maintain good stability under high temperature and high pressure environments. This organizational structure also gives the alloy good processing and welding properties, which is convenient for various processing and connection operations in industrial production.


Chemical composition and physical properties

The chemical composition of Hastelloy C includes about 57% nickel, 16% chromium, 15% molybdenum, 4% tungsten, and small amounts of iron, cobalt, carbon, manganese, silicon and other elements. Its physical properties are as follows:

Melting point: 1350ºC
Specific heat: 0.385 J/kg·K
Thermal conductivity: 29.3 W/(m·K) (25ºC)
Modulus of elasticity: 210 MPa (28ºC)



Mechanical properties

Hastelloy C also has excellent mechanical properties, as follows:

Tensile strength: 690 MPa
Yield strength: 310 MPa
Elongation: 40%




Corrosion resistance

Resistance to a variety of strong corrosive media: It can resist the erosion of strong corrosive media such as chlorine, acid, nitrates, etc. Hastelloy C-276 alloy has excellent corrosion resistance to most corrosive media in oxidation and reduction states, and also has excellent resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.

Adapt to a variety of corrosive environments: It can work stably for a long time in corrosive environments such as strong acids, strong alkalis, and salt solutions. For example, Hastelloy C-2000 shows good corrosion resistance in acids, alkalis and salt solutions, especially in strong acid and oxidizing environments, and can resist the erosion of strong corrosive media such as sulfuric acid, acid and chlorides.




Application fields

(I) Chemical and petrochemical
It has been widely used in the chemical and petrochemical fields, such as in components and catalytic systems that come into contact with chloride-containing organic matter, and in the manufacture of chemical reactors, distillation towers, pipelines, valves, pumps and other equipment. It can handle various corrosive media, such as sulfuric acid, hydrogen chloride, acetic acid, etc.

(II) Flue gas desulfurization
Due to its excellent resistance to sulfuric acid and chloride corrosion, it is widely used in the manufacture of core equipment such as desulfurization towers and absorption towers, ensuring the smooth progress of the desulfurization process and the compliance of emissions.

(III) Pulp and papermaking
In the papermaking process, bleaching, cooking and other processes will produce a large amount of corrosive media. The application of this alloy not only extends the service life of the equipment, but also improves the quality and production efficiency of pulp.

(IV) Environmental protection field
It plays an important role in environmental protection projects such as wastewater treatment and waste gas purification. Its excellent corrosion resistance enables the treatment equipment to operate stably in harsh chemical environments, effectively reducing maintenance costs and environmental pollution risks.

(V) Oil and gas
During the oil extraction and processing process, the equipment faces the dual challenges of high temperature, high pressure and corrosive media. This alloy is widely used in key facilities such as submarine pipelines and wellhead equipment due to its excellent corrosion resistance.

(VI) Aerospace
In the aerospace field, the demand for high-temperature alloy materials is increasing. This alloy is used in key components in high-temperature working environments such as engine parts and combustion chamber linings due to its excellent high-temperature resistance and oxidation resistance.

(VII) Food processing industry
Like Hastelloy C-2000 alloy can be used to make equipment that comes into contact with food, such as fermentation tanks, storage tanks, and transportation pipelines. It has good food resistance and meets hygiene standards.

(VIII) Marine engineering
